1. Full Face Helmets

When you imagine a motorcycle helmet, this is likely what you you have in your mind. Full face Helmets completely cover the top, back and front of your head, basically your entire face other than your eyes. Unlike 3/4th and half helmets, full faces have jaw and face protection & since your are most likely to fall on your face, its an extremely important feature. Riding posture is an extremely important element when considering a full face helmets. Sports/Street bikers are usually bent over all the way to the handle bar, and thats exactly who these helmets are designed for. These helmets provide the maximum protection against impacts and face injuries.
The shells of these helmets are also specially designed to reduce wind resistance and let the air around the head flow as smooth as possible. The issue however with these helmets is the lack of ventilation and and the limited visiblity. Ask any biker how it feel to ride with the Helmet on in the Indian heat and he will tell you the sad & sweaty stories of his life.
2. Modular Helmets

These helmets are like the convertible sports cars of the new Era. Modulat Helmets allow you to flip open the front of the helmet, effectively making it a half face helmet at the touch of a button. These helmets are perfect for the city rider who stops every now and then for a phone call, smokes while he ride or simply enjoys the feel the Hot indian wind on his/face. However tough these helmets offer the flip open functionality, its not advised to ride with the front flipped open.
In fact the structural strength of the helmet is at its least when the front is flipped open. When compared to full face helmets these helmets are way less protective and have basically compromised a little structural strength for day-day use and practicality.
3. Smart Helmets

Like the name suggest , these helmets are basically an electronic device fused together in the shell of your standard old helmet. Smart helmets today come in various types of shells, shapes and budgets. Hoever they all one one thing in common, THE ABILITY TO CONNECT TO YOUR SMART PHONE.
Smart helmets let you connect your phone to them so that talking to girlfriend becomes easier and hassle free when you are out riding with the boys.
Different manufacturers offer different helmets with different features however features like , stereo Speakers, handsfree dial, answer and reject calls come as standard with allmost every other smart helmet out there.
4. Half face Helmets

These Helmets are basically the Suicide helmets of the motorcycling world.
Originally designed in the 1950's these helmets were the standard Racing helmets back in the day, however ever since full face helmets have come out, they have become more like a fashion accessory.
Besides when you wear this helmet, you'll look like a guy with a soup bowl over the head. These helmets offer little to no protection. The only thing these helmets are good at then is getting you through the police check-post without getting fined.
5. Offroad/Dirtbike Helmets

Like the name suggest, these helmets are made for only one purpose and that is to go offroad. These helmets are designed for much stronger impact protection and have a way better ventilation system to keep the rider cool.
With a pointy jaw line & a mudflap over the head, you'll be able to spot one from a mile away. These helmets also tend to have flashy colors and attractive stickering.
However wearing these Helmets on the Streets/Highways is a strict no no.
With the strong headwinds and crosswinds on your face, you'll be swinging the head from side to side like chicks in a club. These helmets also have extremely poor sound insulation and almost never come with a visor as standard.
